Extortioners, whose identity has not yet been established, threatened that if the Czech government does not pay the required sum of money, spread Ebola virus in selected public areas – Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said.
The threat of the government also announced in a statement the Czech Ministry of the Interior. – There is no single authority of the security forces, that is not currently involved in the investigation (in this case) – said the Minister Milan Chovanec.
The deputy police Zdenek Laube rated at a press conference that blackmail is mainly aimed at all call panic. The case was classified as blackmail threats and threatening public security, for which the perpetrators face up to 12 years in prison.
The investigation leads, among others, Police Organised Crime Unit (UOOZ). Her boss, Robert Nobles said the blackmailers are “very sophisticated” and use “very sophisticated means of communication and documentation.”
Chief Sanitary Inspector Czech Vladimir Valenta on Monday reassured that the risk of spread of Ebola virus in the country is “very slight”.
– Access to the virus , transport it, and the effective spread in ways other than through direct contact with infected bodily fluids or is unlikely – he stressed.
In his opinion, sanitation, climate and epidemiological preparation in the Czech Republic and universal access to care facilities health “virtually preclude the spread of Ebola on a massive scale.” We are prepared for isolated cases of illness – he added.
So far, the Czech Republic appeared repeatedly suspected Ebola infection, but in none of the cases, these fears have not been confirmed.
