North Kore. Released two detained US citizens – Onet.pl

Intelligence Director James Clapper state is accompanied by two released on the way home – stated his office. Bae and Miller were freed in less than three weeks after being released by North Korean authorities from the prison of another American.

Missionary Bae was arrested in North Korea in November 2012 and sentenced to 15 years hard labor for activities against the state. Arrested in April this year, Miller stood trial on charges of espionage and was sentenced to six years’ hard labor. USA repeatedly observed for their release on humanitarian grounds – especially since the reports emerged about Kenneth Bae health problems.

Sweden acts as a diplomatic broker in the US dealings with North Korea, as both these countries do not maintain diplomatic relations.

The US authorities did not provide any further details about how the release to take place, and the mission Clapper was a surprise – Reuters notes.
