– 21 November is a very important and very sad date in the history of our country. Everything then turned over upside down. It was a day of change, which many lost their lives. Consequently, massacred the eastern part of our country, taken Crimea and money, but it had to happen, because people could not longer live in the oligarchic-mafia systems – says Lyudmila Kashko, from 10 years in Poland.
For the Ukrainian students of those events 12 months ago are of particular importance, because that young people were the first to openly opposed the signing of an association agreement with Russia. Daniilowi Kononenko so far voice breaks as he remembers that time.
– At first, we thought it would be only peaceful demonstration, no one expected the bloodshed. The worst part was afterwards, when we watched reports from Maidan, but nothing we could not do – says the boy.
Iryna Ryzhkov from the Centre of Eastern Partnership UO comes from southern Ukraine, in her hometown nothing bad has happened, but so daily calls to parents: – They themselves say that today is ok., but do not know if tomorrow will not see the window of the tank.
The Ukrainians living in Opole argued that hope in the new authorities. – It’s about us West, says the whole world. They support us, sympathize, but we know that change must happen in Ukraine itself – sums Lyudmila Kashko.
