Francis also drew attention to the radical change in the model of family life in history: the dominant form of “father-ruler” to the absent father. As noted, especially in Western culture’s father “disappeared” and has been removed in the name – as he said – “liberation from the father-king, the father-obstacle to the emancipation and independence of young people.” Therefore, according to the Pope is no longer a problem “insistent presence of the fathers”, but often they lack in family life, evading their responsibility.
Fathers are sometimes so focused on themselves and on their self-realization, they forget even family – says Francis.
