Putin calls on Ukrainians to surrender in Debaltseve – Virtual Poland

The Russian president calls on Ukrainian troops in Debaltseve to surrender. Despite the current ceasefire Sunday in Donbas in Debaltseve roll heavy fighting. Kiev authorities have admitted they have lost control over this area. Ukrainian soldiers are there surrounded by separatists.
 

Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed in Budapest that everything will now depend on the decision of the Ukrainian soldiers. Putin suggested that they should lay down their arms. – I expect that the right people in the Ukrainian headquarters will not be able to stop soldiers before giving up and placing weapons. If leaders can not issue such a decision, then I at least hope that they will persecute those who lay down their arms, trying to save the life of their own and other people – said the Russian president. Vladimir Putin stressed in Budapest, he hoped that both sides will abide by the ceasefire. At the same time he admitted that he had expected that after the signing of the agreement will remain in Minsk clashes occur.

The Russian president also said that the Ukrainian army has already been delivered weapons from outside. Fierce battle for Debaltseve underway since last week. In view of the deterioration of the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko called German Chancellor Angela Merkel and demanded a strong response from Western countries. The UN Security Council called on both sides of the immediate cessation of the fighting.
