” I do not think that Russia could start a war attacking any of the NATO member states. Because Putin is certainly not a suicide, and he knows what the consequences would be, “- said in an interview Zeman Associated Press.

“I am convinced that in this case there would be adequate military rather than political and economic response” – he added.

He also of the opinion that the EU sanctions against Moscow should be gradually abolished, “if Russia invades the ground Ukrainian, because in my opinion, just like the old sanctions against Cuba, they give counterproductive.”

Zeman pointed out that from an economic point of view, to annex the areas covered by the rebellion in eastern Ukraine to Russia would not make sense. “I think (Russia) is satisfied with the annexation of the Crimea. I doubt that it was possible hovering in eastern Ukraine – simply because it was destroyed by the civil war and Russia would have to feed tens of million hungry mouths, and as its economic resources are insufficient” – he said.

He also reiterated his criticism of the US Ambassador in Prague Andrew Schapiro, who publicly questioned the meaning of Zeman’s departure to Moscow on a rustic celebration of the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Czech President declared earlier that at its premises at Prague Castle Schapiro is no longer a welcome guest.

“The Vienna Convention (on diplomatic relations) strictly prohibits the ambassador of any country meddling in the internal affairs of the host country. Mr. Schapiro unknowingly or intentionally violated this principle and disqualifies him as a professional” – AP Zeman said.

“I’m going to Moscow to honor the fallen, not living” – he stressed. Previously under criticism from the Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and other Czech politicians announced that it will present at the military parade on Red Square.
