German Chancellor Angela Merkel, accompanied by Russian President Vladimir Putin laid a wreath in front of Moscow’s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Alexandrovsky Park, in front of the Kremlin wall.
German Chancellor said earlier that he wants in this way to honor the memory of millions of Soviet soldiers who died in World War II the world, and for whose death responsibility is Germany.
Due to the annexation of the Crimea and Russia’s role in the events in the east of Ukraine, head of the German government – like the vast majority of Western leaders – has not accepted Putin’s invitation to the Saturday celebration of Victory Day in Moscow, which was the culmination of a military parade on Red Square. He flew to the Russian capital until Sunday.
