Ukrainian government forces previously detained dozens of Russian soldiers fighting in the east of the country in the ranks of separatists – said Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in an interview with the BBC. According to him, this indicates the direct involvement of Russia in the conflict in Donbas.
Poroshenko assured that although his country remains in favor of a political solution to the conflict in the eastern districts, is preparing for a new attack your opponent. Let’s be frank: we do not fight the separatists supported by Russia. It is a real war with Russia. Today we have recorded two Russian military several weeks and months ago respectively 20 and 60 Russian special forces soldiers. It is another hard evidence (the presence of the Russian army in the Ukraine) – he said.
Last week, the Ukrainian government forces detained around the city of Shchastya in the Luhansk two Russian special forces soldiers, Sergeant Alexander Alexandrov and Captain Yevgeny Yerofeyev. According to their statements, they infiltrated the eastern Ukraine at the turn of March and April in order to carry out reconnaissance operations. The Russian Ministry of Defence announced that these citizens are not currently soldiers of the Russian armed forces. Poroshenko stressed that the detained Russians are treated well and allowed them representatives of international organizations.
According to the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Markian Lubkivskyi said the two detained soldiers are suspected of committing a crime – creation of a group or terrorist organization.
