President Komorowski had ratified the agreement of the EU-Georgia – Onet.pl

The law authorizing the ratification by the president of the Association Agreement between the EU and Georgia in February, parliament passed. In March, the ratification of this agreement by Bronislaw Komorowski has agreed to the Senate. Association Agreement, including the agreement on a common trade area was signed on 27 June 2014 in Brussels.

FTA is expected to gradually integrate Georgia with the EU common market. However, the document does not mention the possibility of Georgia’s accession to the EU, although the authorities in Tbilisi, both current and previous, consistently formulate such a purpose.

Association Agreements are considered to be some kind of reform program which the associated countries should undertake in order to align its standards in force in the EU. The most important part of the association agreements it records an agreement to establish a free trade area, involving the gradual elimination of tariffs and other trade barriers and harmonizing standards and regulations.

Georgia initialed an association agreement with the European Union than 29 November 2013 at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius. It was originally planned that the documents will be signed by the end of 2014, but in the face of Russia’s policy that tried to torpedo the rapprochement of Ukraine with the EU, signed it in June ub.r.

Poland already ratified the EU Association Agreements with all three Eastern Partnership countries that have signed – before, in March, with Moldova and Ukraine.

On Thursday afternoon in Riga begins with the Eastern Partnership summit. On Wednesday, after several hours of negotiations, the EU ambassadors agreed on the draft Declaration on Partnership summit. Draft declaration confirms, among others, recognition of the European aspirations and the European choice of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova and talks about the possibility of abolishing visas for Ukrainians and Georgians all conditions.

EU Eastern Partnership Program was established with the joint Polish and Swedish initiative, presented in 2009. It includes six countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
