New Zealand: radar failure caused the grounding of all … – Onet.pl

The system failure occurred at 14.48 local time (4.48 time in Poland). We were not informed what exactly happened.

Transport Minister Simon Bridges said that all departures were halted, while the aircraft from different directions in the air have alternating land; air traffic control service was unable to communicate with the aircrew via radio contact. The Minister stressed that the most important thing is the safety of persons and aircraft.

As stated spokeswoman for New Zealand airlines Air New Zealand Marie Hosking, at 16 local time, all machines were on the ground. The problem affected around 160 national and international calls.

She added that the decision to resume air traffic will be taken , moving the system priority will be given alternating international calls, then jets on domestic routes and finally smaller engines in internal traffic.
