– It would be sufficient for a medium-sized European country – he said of the armed separatist troops in the Donbas. The minister warned that Russia strengthens military forces in the occupied Crimea, and warned that there is a danger deployment of strategic nuclear weapons there. Półtorak also said that despite strenuous attempts to Russia’s defense minister Sergei Shoigu does not agree with him for an interview.
– Russia increases its military training camp in the Crimea. Currently, there are about 24,000 soldiers. There are really a big danger distribution on the peninsula strategic nuclear weapons carriers. Russia in fact forms the Crimea strong grouping to maintain the occupied territory and defend their interests both in Ukraine and in other countries – he stressed.
Półtorak reported that in spite of the ceasefire agreement, the separatist attacks on government forces increase, which threatens to break the peace arrangements concluded in February in Minsk.
– Only in May and June, militants fired at our positions more than 2,000 times. If you compare this with April, the number of shellings more than doubled. This reflects the aggressive plans of terrorist groups – he stressed.
The Minister of Defence said that it could not establish contact with his Russian counterpart, so that the talks on the situation in Donbas are conducted at the level of general staffs of Ukraine and Russia.
– I personally tried several times to talk to Mr. Minister of Defense of Russia Sergei Shoigu, however, he constantly complained of excess work and to talk not occurred – said Półtorak.
