Russia will apply the principle of reciprocity in response to the EU sanctions. Kremlin’s position on this issue confirmed to Russian president’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov . In his opinion, the restrictions harm Western interests not only of Moscow, but also the economy of the countries that it wprowadzają.Według Dmitry Peskov, there is nothing new in Russia’s reaction to the EU sanctions. Russia considers these restrictions to be unjustified, illegal and has never been the initiator – quoted Kremlin spokesman agency Ria Novosti. An official added that Moscow in response to the actions of the West will be guided by the principle of reciprocity.
Earlier, Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev warned that the extension of the EU sanctions against his country will mean extension of retaliatory sanctions. The head of government stressed that first and foremost in terms of the embargo on food products which Moscow has introduced in August last year. Medvedev also noted that although in the short term Western sanctions hurt the Russian economy in the long allow you to develop native entrepreneurs and find partners in new markets.
EU economic sanctions against Russia were extended until January next year. They include reduced access to capital markets for Russian banks, arms embargo and a ban on the sale of Russia’s advanced technologies, including those related to mining Arctic oil deposits.
