02.07. Cairo (PAP / Reuters, EFE) – At least 100 militants and 17 Egyptian soldiers were killed on Wednesday in fighting that erupted after the militants a series of coordinated attacks on checkpoints Egyptian security forces and police in northern Sinai Peninsula – said the Egyptian army.

Egyptian army spokesman Gen. Mohammed Samir said Wednesday late in the evening that the situation in northern Sinai is “100 percent under control”. As stressed in the fighting killed more than 100 militants and 17 Egyptian soldiers. According to medical sources, the victims are also among civilians.

The attacks admitted to a group called Sinai province which recognizes the sovereignty of the Islamic State (IS).
