Without debate about Poland in the Council of Europe. The opposition happy – Polish Radio

                             A proposal on this issue has not received the required two-thirds majority. At the winter session will therefore be a discussion on the functioning of democratic institutions in Poland.

The debate voted 98 delegates to PACE, 89 were against and 14 abstained.

He stressed that the information coming from Polish are so disturbing that fully justifies a close look into the matter and prepare a report.

The request for adjournment reported, in turn, liberal MP from Moldova Valeriu Ghiletchi. He argued that prior to obtaining the expertise of the Venice Commission, which is to assess the changes made in Poland, the debate would not make sense. He appealed to postpone it until obtaining reliable information and expertise. A similar view was almost half the voters.

In this session, the Assembly Poland is represented by a parliamentary delegation led by Deputy PiS Vladimir Bernacki. It includes the following members: Iwona Arent, Thomas Cimoszewicz, Andrzej Halicki, Grzegorz Janik, Daniel Milewski, Killion Munyama, Jacek Osuch, Agnieszka Pomaska, Krzysztof Sitarski, Dominik Tarczyński Krzysztof Truskolaski and Jacek Wilk and senators Margareta Budner, Gregory helm, Alexander Pociej and Andrzej Wojtyla.

The debate in the European Parliament

Last week the situation in Poland was discussed at the EP forum. Prime Minister of Law and Justice deputy who took part in the debate, argued that there was no breach of the Constitution, changes in the law on the Constitutional Court are in conformity with applicable European standards, and the TK is doing well and working.

Referring to the changes in the public media, she said that they do not violate the standards, but are an attempt to restore public media nature of political neutrality and impartiality.

The Polish government has asked for an opinion on the reform of the Tribunal to the Venice Commission, known as the European Commission for Democracy through Law, Council of Europe’s advisory body. Opinion may be released in March.

Two weeks ago the European Commission decided to initiate proceedings against the Polish first stage of the procedure concerning the protection of the rule of law, due to the fact that – he said Frans Timmermans deputy head of the European Commission – binding rules on CT are not currently met.
