He added that EU leaders agreed to work further on the basis of these proposals, which assume: repatriation of all persons przeprawiających illegally from Turkey to the Greek islands; acceleration of visa liberalization for Turkish citizens; speeding up the payment of 3 billion euros to help refugees in Turkey, and providing additional financial assistance for this purpose; preparing for the opening of new chapters in the negotiations on Turkey’s accession to the EU; the possibility of creating a “safer” areas in Syria; resettlement of refugees directly from Turkey to the EU.
Details of cooperation are to be ready for the EU summit next week, that is, before March 17.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker assured that the findings of the EU-Turkey to provide for the repatriation of all migrants who illegally come to Greece from Turkey will be compatible with EU law.
– As about the legal aspect I wanted to say that we have examined it very carefully. Articles 33 and 38 of the Directive on asylum procedure clearly open the way for this type of solution (returning all immigrants) – he said at a press conference.
