The whole event was played in 2014 in Dunkirk, in the US state of Indiana. Shortly after the burglary, the court sentenced the owner of the garage, David McLaughlin, a disproportionate reaction to the threat. Judgment did not avoid also the robber, David Bailey, who admitted to breaking the law. Now he decided to go a step further.

In his lawsuit Bailey argues that the use of weapons by McLaughlin was ” an act of extreme irresponsibility. ” As noted in the document, the owner of the garage went beyond the limits of their own property and did not stop shooting despite the prevailing gloom. That’s when one of the bullets reached a fleeing burglar.

Defender respondent described these accusations as “ridiculous.” – This approach to the problem is a scandal. Each resident of the state of Indiana has the right to defend themselves against burglars. The scope of this defense may involve the use of weapons – explains McLaughlin attorney.

He adds that he and his client hope that the judicial system will fulfill its function and burglar does not get a dime.
