– I am convinced, that today in these uncertain times of great challenges all believers and nonbelievers need the Church, which embraces rather than excludes. Church, who gives up wealth to support the poor. (…) The Church, which believes in man and his freedom, and not in the omnipotence and omniscience institutions. Church, who złamanemu human life brings hope, not a condemnation. Church, which arouses only good feelings, not waking anyone in contempt, fear or anger. Such a Church we need everyone – marked the President of the European Council.
Pope Francis Award
At a ceremony on Friday at the Vatican, Pope Francis received the Charlemagne Prize, awarded by the city of Aachen. The ceremony was attended the most important officials of the European Union, as well as German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Spanish King Philip VI.
