The Russian president during a meeting with representatives of the defense industry is not weighed words. – US anti-missile shield in Europe is a clear violation of the Russian-American treaties. Now, after the deployment of missile defense elements in Romania, we have to think about how to deal with new threats – said Putin. Recall that the INF Treaty on the elimination of intermediate-range missiles, which the United States and the Soviet Union concluded in 1987, prohibits both parties to the production, possession, or even testing missiles based on land battle and maneuvering a range from 500 to 5 500 km.

According to the Russian policy of installing the shield in Poland can be used for missiles short and medium range. – American anti-missile shield in Europe is the next step in increasing international tension and start a new arms race – said the president and added: – We do not want to participate in this race.
