It’s hard to be optimistic in the face of polls before the referendum on the future of the UK in the European Union – said European Council President Donald Tusk. Most of the research gives an advantage Brexitu supporters.

– I know it is very difficult for us to maintain optimism, we know the most recent polls. But it is still half and half, everything is possible – Tusk said at a press conference in Helsinki.
 

He added that the output of the UK from the EU will have negative economic and political consequences and constitutes a danger both for this country and the European Union. In his opinion, the United Kingdom is a key EU country and Brexit “there is now no sense.”
 

– I have no doubt that the direct results of the potential Brexitu be really dangerous for Britain and the rest of Europe – said Tusk. – Political and geopolitical consequences are completely unpredictable. Today, we need to strengthen our Western community – he added.
 

The Ipsos Mori poll for the newspaper “Evening Standard” 53 percent. respondents who intend to vote in the referendum voted for Brexitem. A similar result brings the most recently published surveys.
 

The referendum will take place on Thursday 23 June.
