Somalia: 18 fatalities attack on the hotel in Mogadishu – Polish Radio

Previously reported that the attack on the hotel 15 people died and 20 were injured. According to the agency dpa, among the dead are at least two terrorists.

The assassination of the car bomb carried Somali Taliban groups with Al- Shabab. It died in it, among others, two Members of Parliament. After the explosion in front of the hotel entrance terrorists went inside and opened fire.

Attempts in the city could be heard even in the evening, which according to the agency suggests that still lasted special forces operations against the attackers. Not excluded that the attackers could take hostages.

Aljazeera notes that the attack coincided with a visit to Mogadishu President Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The hotel had to be the route of his journey.

Army of Al-Shabab is a Somali branch of al-Qaeda, ultimately displaced from Mogadishu in 2011.
