Several human rights organizations recognized the burkini ban as discriminatory. On Friday, three women and the Association against Islamophobia in France (CClF) challenged the ban, considering it illegal and demanding it suspend.

On Saturday, an administrative court in Nice rejected these proposals. According to the court regulation it is consistent with the rules on secularism. They prohibit anyone “to his religious beliefs take precedence over the common principles governing relations between public authorities and private persons.”

The judge added that, in the context of current in France a state of emergency and the recent attacks, mainly from July 14 in Nice, “wearing distinctive clothing, other than ordinary swimsuit, can be interpreted as something more than a mere sign of religiosity” .

the lawyer representing CClF Sefen Guez Guez announced that it would appeal the ruling Council of State, the highest French administrative court. In her opinion, the decision on burkini “paves the way for banning all religious symbols in the public space.”
