Defence Minister: Polish army will always remember the fallen in Mirosławiec – Polish Radio

In the eighth anniversary of the disaster military transporter CASA C-295, the memory of the tragically deceased 20 – four crew and 16 officers returning from flight safety conference in Warsaw – honored family, delegations of military units and representatives of local authorities.

 

Twenty of red and white candles burned on a Thursday evening in front of the monument commemorating the plane crash C-295 in Miroslawiec. Among other things, soldiers, relatives, friends, scouts, the officers laid wreaths in front of the obelisk air, lit candles. Guard of honor gave salvos of honor and color guards bowed banners. Memorial Appeal held, which mentions not only those officers who have died in Miroslawiec, but also the victims of other disasters aircraft, especially near Smolensk. Ecumenical prayer was recited for the dead.


 

In his speech, the Minister of Defence addressed first and foremost families of the victims. – I want in this eighth anniversary of the tragedy, the eighth anniversary of the death best of the best (…) refer mainly to families, mothers, wives, children, to those who made that killed the pilots troops could serve his country with all his great talent all your soul, will and mind that could make that Poland could feel safe – Antoni Macierewicz said.

 

– Your improbable daily effort aimed primarily at them, let them go to our memory as a great pilots and soldiers; go to the Polish memory, as those who were the foundation of the Polish Air Force – he stressed.

 

Letter from the President

 

The head of the National Security Office, Paul Soloch read a letter from President Andrew Duda. Saluting the fallen president stressed that “the memory of this tragedy still causes pain and sorrow”. As chief of the armed forces I bow my head before their merits – he added. “We keep them in mind as a wonderful, generous flyers, tireless defenders of Polish skies” – he wrote.


 

recalled the words of the late President Lech Kaczynski, who said in 2008. after the disaster, the sympathy and the assurance of the memory of the selfless service of those who died in Mirosławiec.

 

“May the memory of airmen who died in Miroslawiec remain alive, and in the pages of Polish history, let it never enroll tragedies” – wrote the president of Duda.

 

The disaster at Mirosławiec

 

Military CASA C295 transport plane crashed on the evening of 23 January 2008. at the approach to landing in Miroslawiec. The machine was on the route Warsaw-Powidz-Poznan-Miroslawiec-Świdwin-Krakow deliver the conference participants Air Force flight safety.


 

The accident investigation commission determined that the disaster contributed to improper selection of the crew and the errors committed by pilots, including a lack of observation flight instruments and improper maneuvers, resulting from the loss of spatial orientation.

After the disaster it has lost five military positions directly responsible – according to the then minister of defense – for the decisions that led to it. Before the court was responsible only flight controller of Miroslawiec, accused of negligent breaches of duty, which was eventually acquitted.
