The Czech government has no intention to carry out a referendum on the country's membership in the European Union and NATO - announced on Friday office of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka. Czech membership in the EU is a matter of priority and "decisive for the future" - stressed Sobotka, while at the same time stressed that the EU will have to change .

- to ensure stability, prosperity and security of the citizens of the Czech Republic is only possible within a coherent, strong and stable European Union - argued Sobotka, quoted by Czech media.

On Thursday evening to hold a referendum on continued membership of the Czech Republic in the EU and NATO urged Zeman. - I do not agree with those who are leaving the European Union, but I will do everything to have a referendum and have their say. The same applies to the output of the NATO - said the president.

He also delivered a sharp criticism of the EU. The main reason for the British vote in the recent referendum for leaving their country of the EU, were fears of "total incompetence" current leadership of the EU - said the president, adding that "the EU is a great project with little guidance."

As the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic in 1998-2002 Zeman he helped prepare his country for accession to the EU.
