Russia: the announcement of forming this year four new divisions
reported that on westbound will be three divisions, and the middle one. Divisions will be formed on the basis of existing brigades. Salukow stressed that this is one of the projects undertaken in response to the recently observed an increase in the intensity of military exercises in NATO countries.
January 12 the formation of three new divisions on the westbound announced Russia’s Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu. He pointed out that it is also necessary development of permanent dislocation, including the creation of appropriate polygons and military infrastructure – facilities for people and equipment.
As noted by the agency TASS, in 2015 in the Western Military District was established about 30 training camps and military units. Western Military District was formed in September 2010 as a result of combination of Leningrad and the Moscow Military District. It consists of a fleet – North and Baltic. Part of the Western Military District is bordered by the Polish and Lithuania, Kaliningrad Oblast.
