Iranian spiritual leader Ali Khamenei-religious said on Monday that Tehran rejected the request of the United States to cooperate in the fight against jihadists of the Islamic State.

Kerry, who in Paris took part in the international conference on support for Baghdad against the State Islamic, told reporters, that it will not go into discussions with Iran. He added that “no idea” how the Iranian authorities interpret “discussions that may have taken place or not”; and stressed: “I do not coordinate activities with Iran.”

He expressed the hope that agreement will be reached with Tehran in negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program.

Iran uninvited to the conference

Earlier on Monday, State Department spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki said that the United States exclude military cooperation with Iran in the fight against the Islamic State, but are open on “diplomatic discussions” on the issue. “I do not coordinate our military activities and we will not do” – said Psaki, accompanying Kerry at a conference in Paris.

Iran – a country neighboring Iraq, as well as an ally of authorities in Baghdad – was not invited to taking place in the Paris conference on the establishment of an Islamic State and fighting with him the international coalition. Kerry acknowledged that the participation of Iranians would be inappropriate due to the “involvement of Iran in Syria and elsewhere.”

The next round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the 5 +1 group (the United States, Russia, China, Great Britain, France and Germany) will take place on September 18 in New York.
