The Court rejected the version of the 26-year-old Rejaneh Dżabbari finding that the evidence shows that the crime was previously planned. One piece of evidence was to be the fact that two days before the murder Dżabbari bought a knife, who later became the murder weapon. Iranian prosecutor’s office said in a statement that the decision was made, and the woman was hanged at dawn. Dżabbari was sentenced to death in 2009. During the woman claimed that a former employee of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence stuffed his dog drug her and tried to rape her. Rejaneh managed to defend; as explained, once attacker stabbed with a knife and then fled. A man bled to the office where the event occurred; Iranian assured, however, that did not die from the blow, but someone else killed him.
Just yesterday with an appeal for clemency Dżabbari requested, inter alia, Amnesty International. “The Iranian authorities must halt the execution of a woman who tomorrow will be hanged for the murder of the man she accused of attempted rape” – wrote an appeal to the organization in Tehran.
The case also involved the United Nations, saying that the murder was the nature of self-defense, and the same proceedings were poorly carried out. Dżabbari was to be bullied, and the testimony was coerced by investigators.
The UN estimates that since the beginning of 2014, Iran executed more than 250 people.
