The South Korean court issued its judgment on the April shuttle disaster Sewol. Captain who sank taking with him to the bottom of 295 people, was not sentenced to death. Imposed a number of many years of imprisonment.
The prosecution accused the captain of the 295 murders and demanded the death penalty. The court, however, did not accede to this request and sentenced him to 36 years in prison.
The 69-year-old Lee Joon-seok himself admitted during the trial that he deserves the death penalty. I have not made adequate resources – he said.
Convicted of murder, however, was chief engineer of the shuttle, which did not help the two injured crew members. The man was found guilty of the deaths of two colleagues and was sentenced to 30 years in prison. 13 other crew members were found guilty of other charges.
