I am in mourning over the death of Wladyslaw Bartoszewski, great Pole and a great European, an activist of the resistance, especially human reconciliation between the Polish and German. I am glad that I had the opportunity to meet him – said Martin Schulz.
Professor Bartoszewski was valued diplomat and historian. During the Nazi occupation, he was imprisoned in a concentration camp at Auschwitz. As an Army soldier took part in the Warsaw Uprising.
