Negotiations with Britain: progression ws. Benefits – Onet.pl

Some comments Polish in negotiations with Britain were included, but not all. Warsaw was able to make such changes to the agreement that would prevent future cuts in benefits for foreign workers, for example in Germany or France. Poland seeks yet further changes in the draft compromise with London.

Yesterday’s meeting negotiators from 28 countries did not lead to a breakthrough. The final agreement on the terms of Britain’s membership in the EU is expected at the summit next week.

danger in negotiations with Britain is that other countries want to follow in the footsteps of the future and also to limit benefits for foreign workers, including Poles. Now, the draft agreement entered caveat that the cuts can only enter the EU countries that the enlargement of 2004 did not reduce the access to their labor markets for citizens from the new member. And not only did the United Kingdom, Ireland and Sweden. The rest of the closed their labor markets – France for four years, and Germany, together with Austria up to 7 years.

Polish, although pleased with the changes in the draft agreement with the United Kingdom, will seek further. Among other things, it would reduce social benefits as short as possible. There is one more issue to resolve – rules for workers from EU countries to the benefit of children who do not live with them abroad. Poland wants to be respected the rights of persons already receiving such benefits.
