- Treat seriously the fact that we are Christians and let us work our best to live as believers – says the Pope.
Pope Francis met with the faithful on the first extra general audience in connection with the Holy Year and the increased number of pilgrims to the Vatican. Such additional meetings will be held once a month.
– When we receive good news or when we experience something beautiful, it is natural that we feel the need to share it with others. We feel inside that we can not keep to ourselves the joy that has been given to us – he said.
In the same way, the Pope pointed out, must pass the joy of meeting God. “This is not proselytism, is offering gift, giving what brings me joy,” – he explained.
Francis pointed to the relationship between charity and mission. “Life makes us his mercy missionaries” – he added.
– God’s mercy that we receive, it is not given to us as private consolation. It makes us the tools, so that through us as others can receive the same gift – underlined the Pope.
He recalled the words of John Paul II: “The Church lives an authentic life when she professes and proclaims mercy.”
Turning to the Poles, he said: “Today we realize that we all have to become missionaries of God’s mercy. Let us ask Christ to strengthen our faith confirmed in holiness, so that we every day had for myself kind and compassionate, forgiving one another, just as God forgave you. “
