09.02. Berlin (PAP / dpa, AP) - For nine increased the number of fatalities train crash, which occurred on Tuesday morning in Bavaria. Earlier information said first of at least two, and then four killed. It is also approx. 80 wounded, including several hard.

In the nearby town of Bad Aibling, on the single-track road, they collided head-on two commuter trains. One of the trains derailed, turned over several cars. The most seriously injured were transported to hospitals helicopters. Many needed medical staff assisted on the spot. German emergency services rushed to help the Austrian service. All the forces mobilized the Bavarian Red Cross. For residents of Upper Bavaria, called for blood donation.

German police spokesman Stefan Brandl pointed out that the crash occurred in an inaccessible place, between the river Mangfall and the forest, which complicated the rescue operation. Some of the injured were transported by boat or helicopter to the other side of the river, where the waiting ambulance.

The German media have pointed out that among the passengers of both trains was not school-age children, as in Bavaria are currently holidays.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed her sympathy to the families of victims of fatal and underlined that thoughts are with the wounded in the crash. She thanked the emergency services and expressed its conviction that the cause of the collision of trains will be explained.

Germany's Transport Minister Alexander Dobrindt told reporters that the speed limit on the section where the collided trains is 100 kilometers per hour. Collision occurred on a bend and none of the drivers was not able to stop the train. Dobrindt stressed that it is not known yet, why not tripped a security system installed in the train path, which should have automatically stop trains to prevent collisions.

According to a representative of the German railways (Deutsche Bahn) system is controlled there just a week ago and there were no irregularities.

Agency dpa notes that it was the most tragic train catastrophe in Germany since January 2011, when a suburban train collision with a freight in Saxony-Anhalt killed 10 people. In Bavaria, more deaths - 41 - engulfed disaster in 1975, when he collided head-on two fast trains.
