Bus accident in Spain. It killed 13 people – Virtual Poland

The road crash in eastern Spain killed 13 people. Earlier, it was said 14 victims. The bus drove foreign students studying in Barcelona, ​​under the EU’s Erasmus program. The bus was going 56 passengers. Of the 42 injured, 30 people were taken to hospitals. At least eight are in serious condition.

The injured are citizens of Switzerland, Great Britain, Norway, Ukraine and Turkey. It is not known if there are among them Poles.
 

The bus was traveling from Valencia to Barcelona. To crash occurred on the highway, 80 kilometers before Tarragona. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of his vehicle and slid into the opposite lane. Head-on collided with an oncoming car from the opposite direction, then rammed the metal barrier that separates the road from the shoulder and rolled over. The bus driver is now being questioned.
 

Speaking at the scene of the tragedy with journalists, advisor to the government of Catalonia for the safety Jordi Jane expressed the opinion that the most likely cause of the crash was driver error. – The accident occurred on a comfortable highway, in the hours with little traffic – argued Jordi Jane.
