March “No to terror” in Brussels – canceled. The reason – security concerns – Virtual Poland

Organizers canceled the Sunday march “No to terror”, which was held in Brussels. The decision was made after an appeal mayor and the minister of internal affairs of Belgium, to postpone the demonstration for security reasons. It was to be a response to the recent terrorist attacks, which killed 31 people, and about 300 were injured.

The third level of the terrorist threat and the involvement of the police in the investigation into the recent attacks are the reasons for which – according to Minister Jan Jambon – now is not the right time to march citizen. – We understand the emotions of our citizens, and that they want to express what they feel, but a responsibility to all held in safe conditions. We appeal therefore to postpone the demonstration – said at a press conference the Minister of Internal Affairs.
 

The organizers of the march with the understanding came to the concerns of the Belgian authorities. As said in a statement “the security of the citizens is a priority,” and asked that Sunday did not go to Brussels.
 

The march was to begin on the main pedestrian street on the Brussels old town. Square in front of the stock exchange has become a symbolic place for the residents, who make there flowers and light candles in memory of the victims. On one of the social networking sites have expressed interest in the march of about 6,000 people.
