In the district of Forest there was a shootout while trying to search the apartment in the investigation of the terrorist attacks in Paris. Police are still on site, but residents of the neighborhood could no longer return to their homes. Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel on the evening press conference, thanked both for the citizens to stay calm during the operation, and officers who took part in it. The injured were four policemen – during two attempts to revise and two-time pursuit. An officer is in critical condition.
The unknown offender fired the shots from a machine gun in the direction of police officers during a police search. It was supposed to be a routine search of the premises, which was rented under a false name.

The Belgian officers chased at least two suspects, who rushed to escape after the roofs of buildings. Streets leading to the area of Forest were blocked. Also closed two schools near the site of the shooting, and police warned local residents not to go out of the house. To a police operation sent helicopter units of the special forces and at least a dozen police cars. The police action was also attended by officials from France.
During the chase at a distance of approx. Half an hour was heard more shots from firearms – said broadcaster RTBF radio and television. Later, local media reported that one of the fugitives was killed with a shot from a helicopter. Some of the perpetrators was to escape the police raid.
