This year's baccalaureate in mathematics at the advanced level is 16 tasks in the only 5 closed. Their solution, students receive 180 minutes.

The students were solving tasks, including with polynomials, sequences, pyramids. One of the more interesting tasks - with the probability - related to the construction of kindergartens. "Among the 10,000 inhabitants of a city survey was conducted concerning the construction of public nursery school." Students had to calculate the probability of the event "consisting in the fact that a randomly selected person from among respondents support the construction of kindergarten, if it is known that he is a man."

popular as mathematics

Mathematics is the third most popular subject of matriculation - for English and Geography , elected him as much as 31 percent. this year's high school graduates. For maths exam at the advanced level approached record almost 75 thousand. students. This is almost two times more than in the history and social science together. That's bad news for universities offering humanities, great for polytechnics and colleges natural - those who seem extended mathematics, their prospective students.

Mathematics on the one hand is gaining in popularity, the other is still the bane of students. Last year mathematics fared the worst - it flooded with 18 percent. high school graduates and 30 percent. graduate technicians. For comparison, a high school diploma from Polish passed 97 percent. students.

The extension can fail

Since last year (for technicians only at that), you must not pass until six exams: written in the Polish language, foreign language and mathematics, and two oral - Polish and foreign. Sixth exam is optional subject at the advanced level and - attention - you have to approach him, but you can not pass.

Such a formula was introduced at the request of university rectors, who believe that extended exam is the best tool for recruitment studies. Previously, up to one-third of high school graduates do not chose any extension, and many of them and so undertook studies, he pressed niżem universities took often very weak candidates.

What most graduates choose? English - it seems more than 131 thousand. people (51.6 per cent. candidates). In second place geography - more than 79 thousand. high school graduates (31.1 percent)., further mathematics - 74.5 thousand. (29.3 percent). And biology - 54.5 thousand. (21.5 percent.).

Due to the popularity of English and mathematics, the number of high school graduates on May 9 has had no more than half of the exams - they will be only oral exams, which will be carried out until May 27 .

Good news - the young people begin to think about their future before graduation, not after graduation. The reform of 2012, which introduced the need to specialize later than the second year of high school, certainly contributed to this.
