Sir Adrian Bradshaw is deputy commander of NATO in Europe and the most experienced British military NATO.

Speaking at the headquarters of think tank the Royal United Services Institute, General estimated that there is a risk that Vladimir Putin decides to for a military attack on the territory of NATO countries. According to Bradshaw, the Russian president may assume that the Alliance for fear of escalation of the conflict chooses not to answer.

The threat of attack

In the opinion of General Member of the Alliance not only threaten the operation characteristic of hybrid war but also conventional armed attack. As noted, Russia numerous exercises organized in recent months has shown that in a short time can mobilize significant forces around its borders.

In his view, there is a risk that these forces will be used, “not only to intimidate, or to force concessions, but potentially also to seize the territory of any Member of the Alliance”. Then – as explained – using the fear of further escalation of the conflict, Russia will be impossible to recover the territorial integrity.

Bradshaw noted however that this development does not feel it is likely in the near future, however, the potential for such a scenario is NATO serious threat.

He noted that the Alliance must develop a rapid reaction force to “convince Russia or any other enemy that any attack on one NATO members will inevitably lead to conflict with the whole Alliance.”
