Russia: The court’s decision ws. Ukrainian aviator. “It’s full of falsehood circus” – Interia

Russian court on Tuesday extended until May 13 arrest of Ukrainian military pilotce Nadia Savchenko, which is being held in Russia in custody since July. From December 13th hunger strike. Her lawyers fear that it may not live to see the process.

According to the documents in the case of 33-year-old Lieutenant Savchenko fought in east of Ukraine in the ranks of volunteer battalion Ajdar; during clashes with pro-Russian forces in the Luhansk region was taken prisoner, and July 8 found in Russia, in custody in Voronezh.


Savchenko explained that it had been captured by the separatists and transferred Russian intelligence agents, and then illegally transported to Russia.

Savchenko starving to protest against the allegations, which it describes as false and politically motivated. On Tuesday, emaciated aviator had been brought before the court in handcuffs and locked in a metal cage in the courtroom.

– absolutely do not agree with the allegations. It is full of falsehood circus that has to stop, and I should finally return to my homeland – Savchenko said.

– I will continue the hunger strike (…) until the day of my return to Ukraine – she said.

Lawyers aviator worried about the state of her health. – The people running the hunger strikes live without drugs up to 60 days. With drugs – month or month and a half longer. And her detention was extended for three months – said the lawyer Savchenko Ilya Novikov. – This has nothing to do with righteous judgment – he added.

In October, one of the courts in Moscow extended – during the closed meeting – Savchenko custody until 13 February.

In November Savchenko was officially registered by the Central Election Commission in Kiev as a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) of Ukraine.

Savchenko enter parliament after the October elections, which ranked first on the list Batkivshchyna party of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

The Russian NGO Memorial, defending human rights and documenting Stalin’s crimes, Savchenko considered as one of the 46 political prisoners held by the Russian authorities.

Among the political prisoners in Russia Savchenko is the only one without Russian citizenship. The Russian authorities accuse her of complicity in the murder of two Russian journalists in Lugano, in the zone of conflict in eastern Ukraine.
