Czech Republic: Prime Minister supports the president’s trip to Moscow – Interia

The head of the Czech government supports Bohuslav Sobotka President Milos Zeman’s trip to Moscow for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. “I will not block this journey,” – said the Czech prime minister on Wednesday.

– This does not mean, however, that the Czech Republic changed their critical attitude to Russia’s actions in Ukraine – said Sobotka.

Zeman is one of the few leaders and politicians of the country of the European Union, who decided to go to Moscow celebrations.

The meaning of this trip recently publicly questioned the US ambassador in Prague Andrew Schapiro, which caused a violent reaction Czech president. “I am not able to imagine that the Czech ambassador in Washington advised American President, where to go. I will not let any ambassador to interfere with my plans to travel internationally,” – said Zeman.

Milos Zeman is a strong critic sanctions imposed by the EU on Russia as a result of the conflict in eastern Ukraine. He says, the sanctions are ineffective and actually enhance the popularity of Putin among Russians.

As recently declared Czech president’s visit to Moscow will be “an expression of gratitude for the fact that we do not have in this country to speak German” .
