At least five people were killed and 36 wounded in a suicide bombing in the main shopping and tourist area of Istanbul – have informed the local authorities. Among the victims of a suicide bomber.
Seven injured in serious condition. 12 injured are foreigners. Among them are the citizens of Israel. Polish Foreign Ministry informs, citing the office of the Governor of Istanbul, that among the victims and injured in today’s bombing is not the Poles.
The governor of the province of Istanbul Vasip Sahin said that Turkish authorities are investigating the assassination, and rumors of attacks in other places of Istanbul are untrue.
– The explosion took place on the Avenue Istiklal wide boulevard, a pedestrian – reported Reuters. After the attack, the street was closed to pedestrians; the place came an ambulance and the police.

One of the witnesses saw police helicopters circling over the place where the attack occurred. Turkish television showed shots of people fleeing from the place of attack, which so far no one confessed.
The coup in Turkey’s capital
As recently as last Sunday March 13, there was a suicide bombing in Ankara, which killed 37 people and 120 wounded. On the other hand, 17 February, 29 people were killed and dozens injured in Turkish capital in an explosion car bomb.
Both of these attacks admitted armed group Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK), linked to the outlawed Turkey Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).
“Freedom Falcons of Kurdistan” work in southern Turkey and northern Iraq. This grouping aims to secession of Kurdistan. According to experts, the emergence of “Freedom Falcons” on the political scene was the result of splits in the PKK.
