In Venice, it began a two-day plenary session of the Commission for Democracy through Law, known as the Venice Commission. It will issue an opinion on the amendments to the Law on the Constitutional Court in Poland.
The Polish delegation, arrived at the meeting during Thursday’s talks with representatives of the Commission, requested changes to the draft opinion.
The opinion is not binding but will include advice and suggestions. According to information given by the Commission for its opinion and therein recommendation applies to 90 percent of the country.
The opinion will be adopted probably no later than early afternoon – said before the meeting the President of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio.
During the meeting of the committee of experts in constitutional law, one of the rapporteurs will present a draft opinion on the constitutional Tribunal Act, then the position will present the Polish representative delegation from Warsaw. Michael Wojcik from the Law and Justice hopes that the Venice Commission substantively assess the situation related to changes in the Constitutional Court .
