The president Duda and NATO Secretary General discussed preparations for the NATO summit, which will take place in Warsaw on July 8-9.
At a joint press conference informed that currently are being discussed concrete decisions concerning the location of the increased presence of NATO troops.
The president Duda also announced that on Monday it was decided that the frigate “Kosciuszko” set off the Aegean Sea, there to promote the mission associated with the refugee crisis carried out by the North Atlantic Alliance.

Referring to the upcoming NATO summit, the president said at a press conference that “progress at this time last arrangements between Member States on the final provisions”, which will be taken on it. He added that “in the course of the final political negotiations” are also decisions ws. Strengthen presence on the eastern flank: in Poland and the Baltic States. He stressed that NATO is an alliance of giving security guarantees, is an alliance of defensive character.

That we may undertake all decisions together and that they were part of a compromise contracted between the countries on the assumption that the security of each member of the Alliance and all together is indivisible security – said Duda. As he spoke, from the point of view of Polish means include strengthening the presence of the Alliance’s eastern flank: in Poland and the Baltic States.

The NATO Secretary General stressed that before the allies are facing the most serious of generations of security challenges – from the East and the South. – NATO responds to these threats and Poland plays an important role in this response – he said. He recalled that in February, the defense ministers of the Alliance agreed to strengthen the military presence of the Alliance on its eastern wing or in the countries of our region. The presence – said the secretary-general – will be multinational and will be a rotating. – We have clear proposals, which are on the table, they were presented by our military planners. We discuss the specific locations of the foremost, the increased presence of NATO troops. We will take decisions until the summit in Warsaw – he said.
Stoltenberg stressed that “there will be more NATO troops in Poland after the summit in Warsaw just to send a clear signal to any potential aggressor that an attack on Poland would be considered an attack on the whole alliance.” He noted that NATO will also increase efforts to strengthen the stability beyond the borders of the Alliance by supporting partners: Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova in the East as well as Iraq, Jordan and Tunisia in the South. He pointed out that NATO is helping these countries build stronger institutions and the defense forces.

Turning to the president Duda, Stoltenberg said: “With your support the summit in Warsaw clearly shows that our alliance is united, solidarity and strong.”
The visit of NATO Secretary General in Warsaw is a two-day. On Tuesday, Stoltenberg will meet, among others, Prime Minister Beata Szydło and heads of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Antoni Macierewicz – Witold Waszczykowskim.
