Special Unit of the Security Service of Ukraine suppressed a revolt in the Turkish merchant ship. During the rebellion two sailors wounded with knives four crew members, including the captain, and then imprisoned as hostages five other people.

The incident took place late on a Sunday evening at the entrance to the port of Odessa on the Black Sea. Turkish freighter Mehmet Unlu, drifting dangerously close to the breakwater. From the ship it was an SOS signal.
