 There is a chance that a fund to compensate for poorer countries the cost of ambitious EU climate policy will be at the level requested by the Polish – say sources close to the Polish government. In Brussels, EU Summit takes on climate policy.

Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz met on the sidelines of the summit with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande` em and head of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy. According to Polish sources, France and Germany are willing to agree to such provisions in the final document of the summit, which will, despite the ambitious EU approach to combating climate change burden for Polish remain as in the current climate policy.

The draft agreement envisages reserve a portion of CO2 emissions allowances for the creation of a special fund that would allow other less prosperous EU countries to finance the necessary investments in the energy sector.
