US President Barack Obama sent a confidential letter to the spiritual and political leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, emphasizing the common interests of the two countries in the fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria – wrote on Thursday, “Wall Street Journal”.
According to the “WSJ” Obama stressed in the letter of mid-October, that any cooperation between the United States and Iran in the fight against the Islamic State is largely dependent on the achievement of Iran’s agreements with other countries on the Iranian nuclear program. 
The White House does not confirm, not deny
“WSJ” relied on sources that were informed by letter of the president. The newspaper added that members of the Obama administration refused to talk to “WSJ” about the letter, but that it “did not deny its existence, when asked in recent days by foreign diplomats.”
White House spokesman Josh Earnest, when asked about Obama’s letter, he said that did not change US policy towards Iran. He also noted that he could not comment on private correspondence between Obama and any other world leader.
Earnest said on the sidelines of the negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program, the US talk to Iran about the campaign against the State Islamic, but did not give any specifics.
