Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif has suspended the death penalty in time for the Muslim holy month of fasting, Ramadan, which began in most regions of the country on Friday. Sharif ordered the stay of execution to “respect the sanctity of Ramadan” – said in a statement that on Thursday evening appeared on the Prime Minister’s Office.
