No one survived the crash. On board the machines were 15 passengers and three crew members. Among them was a citizen of Denmark, the other victims were Nepalese.
The Twin Otter plane disappeared from the radar 15 minutes after leaving the airport in Pokhara (central Nepal). The machine was in front of a 350-kilometer course. She flew from the city of Kathmandu to Jumli. She stopped in Pokhara on a stopover to refuel.
In a place where contact with the plane broke off the helicopter sent to rescue. The action was difficult due to the weather: it was snowing and fog limited visibility. The wreck was found after a few hours in the Himalayas, near Machinelek.
– Our plane was technically proficient and in our opinion the reason for the crash was the weather – said Ram Hari Sharma from Nepal Airlines. These lines are often criticized for corruption and the use of old machines.
In December 2013, the European Commission put all carriers of Nepal on the so-called. blacklisted airlines. This means that operators from this country can no longer fly in the European Union.
