Right-wing extremist Anders Behring Breivik, who in 2011 killed 77 people in Norway, and is serving a sentence 21 years in prison, won the lawsuit from the Norwegian State. The court found the allegation of inhuman or degrading treatment, which he experienced while in prison.
The court found that keeping him in isolation from other prisoners is contrary to Article. 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which states that “no one shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.”
