Obama said that Americans of all races are entitled to be outraged by the attack on police officers in Dallas; also they have the right to sadness and anger at the killing by the police of two black men in Louisiana and Minnesota. He called on Americans to keep the unity in the face of tragedy.
“Although the passing week was painful, America is not as divided as some suggest,” – the president said.
He noted that motives sniper are unclear, but called him a lunatic, which “does not represent or black Americans,” or “spirit, according to which we need to move forward”.
Obama pointed to the relationship of numerous cases of killings with easy access to weapons US combustible. “We are the only ones among the developed countries in terms of the scale of the violence they experience,” – said the president.
On Thursday evening during a peaceful demonstration against police brutality in Dallas, Micah Xavier Johnson, serial reserve forces of the American army, shooting rifle from an aerial position, he killed five policemen and wounded seven officers and two civilians. The demonstration in Dallas organized to protest against the recent cases of shooting by white police officers of two African-Americans, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and St. Paul, Minnesota. Demonstrations in connection with these events took place on Thursday, among others, at Manhattan, New York, Atlanta, Chicago and Philadelphia.
