03.07 . New York (PAP / AP, dpa) – The news of the death of Professor. Elie Wiesel, Nobel Peace Prize winner, many people from the world of politics expressed on Saturday a huge regret. These include Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, French President Francois Hollande and US President Barack Obama.

“The State of Israel and the Jewish people express tremendous sorrow at the death of Elie Wiesel. Elie, a master of words, his extraordinary personality appeared the victory of the human spirit over evil and cruelty (…) His work reflects not only the Holocaust, but also hope and optimism in the face of the darkness of Auschwitz. I am grateful that I could get to know him personally and so much from him. on behalf of all the citizens of Israel, my wife Sarah and my own I would like to send my condolences to the wife of Elie Wiesel, Marion and his entire family, “- said the Prime Minister Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu.

On the other hand, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin described Wiesel as a “hero of the Jewish people.” In his opinion, a former prisoner of the concentration camp Auschwitz “embodied the determination of the human spirit” to overcome all evil and overcome all adversity.

Former Israeli president Shimon Peres stressed that Wiesel has experienced the worst atrocities faced by humanity could stand. Defeated them and all life emphasized how important it is to exterminate the tragedy is never repeated – said Peres.

French President Francois Hollande described Wiesel as “a great humanist and a tireless defender of peace”, which brought home to the world the enormity of the extermination of Jews in Europe.

Professor Elie Wiesel, the author of the term Holocaust, died on Saturday in New York at the age of 87. He survived the German concentration camp Auschwitz, and is one of the most famous Jewish writers. Repeatedly he engaged in the defense of the oppressed and persecuted minorities. For his work he received the 1986 Nobel Peace Prize.
