Greece will demand reparations from Germany. He wants 270 billion – BBC

The head of the Greek government presented the idea during the anniversary of the massacre in Kommeno in the north-western part of the country, where the August 16, 1943, the Germans killed 317 civilians.

– For the first time we have a national strategy in order to obtain reparations – stressed Cipras. He assured that Greece “will do everything necessary on a diplomatic level, and, if necessary, it is also legal.”

The report reparations were calculated on the amount of 269.5 billion euros. In the middle of last year alone the government estimated this amount to 278.7 billion euros. Included for the loan – according to contemporary estimates, 10 billion – which the German occupiers forced the government in Athens in 1942.

The Agency AFP estimates that given by the amount of reparations would be enough to pay off almost the entire Greek public debt, which amounts to nearly 320 billion.

Germany are of the opinion that the issue of war reparations to Greece is politically and legally ultimately settled. In 1960, the government of the two countries signed a bilateral agreement because, under which the German authorities paid as compensation to the Greeks of that time 115 million German marks.
